Well folks... we did it again.  The wild Loxahatchee River Trip.
First stop... WATERPROOF sunblock for everyone!

The Loxahatchee River was overflowing its banks as we headed downriver for Trapper John's...

We left the Canoe Outfitters in about 10 dry canoes...
Note the happy smile of our passenger.

Little does she know that just around the bend, a tree branch is going to swamp this writer's canoe, nearly sending her brother into the river!

Now.. if you study this picture carefully, you can see what is about to happen.  This writer was not paddling, she was taking pictures.
See that tree limb?      What happened next...

OOPS!!      SPLASH!!!!

Well, the canoe was half filled with water.. Ken didn't mind getting wet!  Papa got soaked and had to swim to shore!  Meggie wanted to go home!! This wasn't fun anymore!!

We all survived the incident, but it left us far behind "the pack".  The river and cypress canopy was beautiful.  The day was perfect - not too hot and humid.  Good thing, because the further we went downstream the more trees had to be climbed over, transporting the kids in and out of the canoes...

We wait our turn to cross still another tree...

..... in the meantime, everyone else was far ahead of us, crossing other logs and going under branches..

Of course, P/C Dean is always where he is needed...

Check out these graceful transfers...

I guess Dean is a bit tired after all that work...

At last, the group arrives at Trapper John's for lunch and a tour of the camp.

After lunch at Trapper John's we continue down-river.  The river opens up, and we don't have to climb over any more trees!!  Yehh!!
Meggie tries her luck at paddling a canoe.

It sure has been a long day, but the paddling is easier in open water.
The end in sight sure looks good!!

We made it!  We catch up with the rest of the bunch who have been relaxing under the cheekee hut waiting for us..

This writer is a wee bit weary and gets some
much needed TLC from the younger set.
Hey, they aren't tired...
They didn't do very much work!!

Well, I wasn't the only one in need of rest...

...and so comes to an end, another fabulous canoe trip.  Each time we swear to never do it again.  Maybe if we remember to look at the website before signing up... we might remember...

I DON'T THINK SO....
