On 16 November over 60 members and guests
of the Coral Ridge Sail & Power Squadron
gathered to try and outdo each other at
the fifth annual Coral Ridge Chili Cook-Off.
Everyone gathered before noon
to set up their tables and get their speciality cookin'...
the day was dampered a bit by overcast skies, but we gathered at
the Birch State Park in Ft. Lauderdale as we have for the past 5 years.

Last year, our pavilllion was very wooded...

...but this year all our trees were gone - as the state park system removes non-native trees and replants with native growth.  Well, it looked very different as the new plantings weren't in...but the breeze was great!!
.But, we were not deterred from the task at hand, and that was to have the best chilis' available for tasting.  Commander Tony again has made one HOT chili... and as you can see, P/C Dave Blade is having a very hard time breathing after tasting Tony's Chili...

p.s.  Later, Tony won the award for the hottest chili... but I don't expect that was a surprise for anyone....

.Roy Teatero shows his appreciation of Marilee Caliendo's Conch chowder... yummmy!!
... for some folks... the work is never done... Carin Imhof finds time to administer an exam before the tasting gets underway....
..
.but, Roger Imhof (aka Carin's Husband), has his hands full with his super hot - scotch pepper chili...

But, one cannot help but notice that Lt/C Jan Blade is wearing her very popular -- in demand - LEATHERs...

You go Jan...

...but, let's get back to the cooking... Gary Ramey has cooked up a super chili... competing with brother Ray...
..Ray is well known for his Chili and his setup of condiments to enhance anyone's chili dish.  Not to be ignored is the quality of his Bloody Mary's and Marguerita's... always served with his chili...

R/C Ed Duda, a true lover of quality chili, is at the head of the line looking for a dish of chili....

Lt. Christine Brown (and friends - she's in leather too!) are there to check out the Chili dishes...

..New members seem to have adjusted very rapidly to the spirit of the Cook-Off... welcome aboard!!!

..Some members are too young to enjoy Chili... too bad!!!

Others have mixed priorities... after all...it IS football season....

Then, there are the RIBS... yummy.....

.Now it is time to move to the JUDGING.....

.Lots of nice prizes....!!

Don't forget the prize for side dishes and desserts...

.Guess who got the best side dish prize...
Dean, get outta the way!!!!

Let us not forget the hard working judges...

The only guy(s) unhappy with the 5th annual cookoff - were the raccoons... this is the first year that we weren't joined by our local furry judges....

..and so ends another great Chili Cook-Off!
