Squadron Purposes

The Squadron's purposes are threefold:

1. To educate each other in all aspects of boating.

2. To promote safe boating through free boating courses for the public; to assist the National Boating Service; do Co-op Charting, and to promote safety awareness.

3. To enjoy social camaraderie on-water and on-land.

USPS was founded in 1913 as a club within a club at the Boston Yacht Club. The name "Power Squadrons" indicates the origin of USPS, but today USPS embraces all boaters - sail, motor, and manpower. Over 40% of USPS members are sail-boaters.

Coral Ridge Sail & Power Squadron, founded in 1967, now consists of over 200 members. CRSPS is a member of the national organization and plays an active role in district functions and activities. There are 17 squadrons in District 8, which stretches from Vero Beach to Key West.
